We like to shoot family portraits during the late afternoon hours, when the sun is low in the sky, creating a beautifully warm and soft light. Overcast skies are also good, extending the shooting hours further into the day. Here the cloud cover acts as a giant soft box that eliminates the harsh shadows of the midday sunlight.
